Kayla's Corner: Johnny's Pizza, Covington Clean-up & the Cheerios Challenge

- Special to The Chronicles -

Welcome back to the Corner, a place for details on food & fun, cool destinations & local happenings.

For this week's place to eat, I highly recommend one of the best pizza joints in town - Johnny's Pizza! Now under new ownership, local resident & former CPD detective Chip Shirah has taken a good concept & made it even better by extending the beer selection & adding several daily specials.

Also, if you haven't already heard, they host trivia every Wednesday night at 7PM! So come on out, grab a slice & have some fun!

For events this week, there's two I'd like to mention to you. First off is a way to help our local community. Volunteers will be gathering this Saturday morning, the 21st, at 8:30AM to help clean & beautify sections of the west ward of Covington. Here are the particulars:

Also on Saturday morning, it's the Covington Y Cheerios Challenge. Hosted by the Covington YMCA, this is not only a 5K race. A 10K & a 15K are included in addition to a mile walk & a "Tot Trot." Here's the 411:
The Covington Family YMCA's annual fundraiser is back! On April 21, 2018, we would love for you and your family to come participate in the races. We have a 15k, 10k, 5k, 1 mile fun run, and 50 yard Trix Tot Trot. All proceeds benefit the Y's Annual Why It Matters Campaign, which helps kids learn to swim, go to camp, and play soccer, and it helps make families in our community stronger! We are proud to offer financial assistance for all of our programs, which is made possible through fundraising!

The 15k, 10k, 5k, and 1 mile are timed races with awards for top finishers. All participants in the 15k and the Tot Trot get a finisher medal. Tshirts are included in race registration (except Tot Trot).

Race registration is open on active.com.

Visit our website at www.ycheerioschallenge.com for race info!

Okay, y'all, so long for now. Can't wait to see you next week!
