[Perrin Lovett] - Something Pointless This Way Comes (((GET OUT)))

Tuesday, the Third of November, in the year of our COVID, 2020, will be here before you know it. With it comes the joy, the fear, the hype, the bullshit, and the utter idiocy of … THE GREAT QUADRENNIAL BLACK MASS!

That’s what I started calling Presidential Dog and Pony Shows a cycle or two back. Fortunately! And I am so happy to prognosticate this! This will be one of the final installments of this pathetic ritual.

Perrin’s medium-to-long-term prediction(s): Orange Man takes this one, defeating the Sniffer (or whatever the DNC foists) by a margin similar to that he wrangled over the Hag back in ‘16. Old Tweets will proceed to do exactly what he has done since January of 2017, namely, nothing. That, and Tweet more. Love him or hate him, he’s your last Republican and the penultimate Chief Executive. In 2024, should we make it that far, you’ll get the final Democrat, the last “leader” of the US Empire. As of now, I’m calling her a “her,” and allotting her one short, “fun”-filled term. I am open to the possibility of her squeaking by again in 2028. Heck, I’m technically open to another shithead of some make and model in 2032, but that’s bordering on fantasy. Let’s call it: Trump, one more, and then - lights out.

The offers, as they currently stand: The Trumpster: a self-centered con artist who can’t stop talking about himself to save his country. He debt-spends like [all modern presidents], murders diplomats, bans firearm accessories, and does not build walls, drain swamps, or lock up hags. Yes, he talks a wonderful game. That alone might make him more palatable than Creepy Joe, who slurs his incoherent words, at once proving the DNC has nothing to offer and that dead robots can get dementia. Word around the nursing home has it that he too would sling bombs, defer to the Fed, and not raise the feeblest hand against the rot. That sums up your choices as usual. Pick the best cat: Lassie, or Rin Tin Tin!

Oh, I assume Boot-head Supreme still wants to give you a pony. You’ll need it if the food shortage grows.

Re-elect Trump - it doesn’t matter. Elect Biden - it doesn’t matter. Have both serve concurrently - it doesn’t matter. Sober up one of your third party hacks - doesn’t matter. Have no president - it does not matter. Neither does a single seat in the House or the Senate. At the state and local levels, you will continue to support and install degenerate scumbags who hate you. And, with very few local exceptions, even that doesn’t matter.

Congratulations, dumbasses! You have, at long, long last, slouched your way to the terminal point where there are no longer any political or legal solutions to your problems. Really, give yourselves a round of applause. Take the masks off for this one. It’s a rarity in human achievement. You are not voting your way out of this mess.

I leave it to the rest of the press to lie to you about your vote counting, Republican’ts, Demoncrats, democracy, muh constitution, and the rest of the rubbish. Odds are, you’ll believe whatever they tell you, just as sure as you step and fetch with a diaper on your face. In the off-chance that you’re not a party to the guilt of destroying all of Columbia, then later, I will offer some advice. We still have time. If that’s you, then undoubtedly you’ve already started planning.

We will, of course, have more exciting and in-depth coverage of the absurd spectacle as the time draws nearer. JUST KIDDING! There’s literally nothing to cover! I’ll let you know if any atomic bombs go off (though, even you’d likely know about that anyway … I guess) and after the votes are counted (or manufactured) I’ll congratulate you on the big, shiny, wooden horse you’ve just pulled inside the gates. Then, I think I shall retool these affairs columns, gearing them towards East Asians, Persian Muslims, or some other group with brains, balls, and a future.

For now, two more small things:

GET OUT! No, not you - you need to stay put and accept what you’ve helped create. This is for young, innocent Posterity Americans: my guide for evacuating the worthwhile from modern Gomorrah before the Wrath falls in full. It’s an ebook, cheaper than you’d imagine, coming soon, and looking much like this:

A Correction: Or, a modification, to be precise: Back in May, I wrote the following about the George Floyd arrest: “Officer Chauvin responded along with at least three other officers, and as you’ve likely seen in the video, killed the unarmed, handcuffed, and seemingly compliant Floyd in what might best be described as a murder.” I must admit that, for a moment there, they had even me going. Yet the hoax will always out. I’ve since corrected my mistake at my own site, now adding clarity, here:

We now know, thanks to an autopsy and (gag order-blocked) bodycam footage and dispatch recordings, that Floyd killed himself with a triple-lethal Fentanyl overdose coupled with aggravated severe heart disease, the ingestion of other narcotics, and also potentially with self-inflicted wounds. He was anything but compliant, hence the use of restraint as the officers attempted to subdue then help him. He was a drug addict and a career felon who enjoyed holding pregnant women at gunpoint during violent home invasions.

Okay, I’ve done my part. I expect the heathens, savages, and communists will cease and desist now. Thanks. (Okay, get those masks back on, servorum, lest Fauci’s Schutzstaffel come calling).

[Marshall McCart] - Thoughts on the Republic & the Current State of Things

Thoughts on the Republic & the Current State of Things

*cross-posted at MarshallMcCart.com

While it may seem like the "Grand Experiment" has failed here the past year or so, I distinctly disagree.

We should've known we were in trouble a few years back when they made a "hip" musical out of Alexander Hamilton, the worst of the worst of the "framers."

Of course, that musical is now currently starting to get blowback - for all the wrong reasons.

In my opinion, the woke, base mob wants nothing short of total annihilation of all things Columbia, Libertas & the Founding Fathers, and whilst many of us know that Hamilton should be discounted for many other reasons - namely his appreciation & endorsement of the concept of statist corporatism (mercantilism) for starters - some out there can't even begin to wrap their minds around that concept anyway, so it'd be a total waste of time to even try.

Life's too short.

At some point you just have to realize & appreciate that truth & accept the fact that it's not worth your time &/or energy. It does no good with some; however, these people - this vocal minority, as well as their counterparts on the hard right - actually constitute nothing more than just a few percentage points of our country's population.

Why in the hell should we let these people dictate our future?

A few thoughts from men much smarter than yours truly:

"The U.S. Constitution is the most unique & best contract ever drawn up between a people & their government in history. Though flawed from the beginning, because all men are flawed, it nevertheless has served us well & set an example for the entire world..."

Dr. Ron Paul
OB/GYN, former US Congressman & Presidential Candidate

And a question:

"Can a nation rise above the injustices of its origins and, by its moral purpose & performance, atone for them? All nations are born in war, conquest & crime, usually concealed by the obscurity of a distant past. The United States, from its earliest colonial times, won its title deeds in the full blaze of recorded history, and the stains on them are there for all to see & censure: the dispossession of an indigenous people, and the securing of self-sufficiency through the sweat & pain of an enslaved races. In the judgmental scales of history, such grievous wrongs must be balanced by the erection of a society dedicated to justice & fairness. Has the United States done this? Has it expiated its organic sins?"

Paul Johnson
Famed Historian (not the former techie head coach) & the author of "A History of the American People"

Regarding Dr. Paul's statement - Absolutely.

Regarding Mr. Johnson's question - Yes, in my thorough analysis & estimation, though, naturally, we continue to create that More Perfect Union.

Continuing on this journey, to me, is definitely the way to go, rather than devolving into some marxist anarchy where it's only power for power's sake & the tenants of fair play, plain dealing & an adherence to the Golden Rule are totally discounted.

That's the way I see it.

Very Kindly Yours,

[Ellis Millsaps] - Who Is That Masked Man? Part I

As you know there's a blight of bad news out there, some getting worse daily, but I've seen two items recently that give me hope.

A week ago today (today being July 5th) I saw a clip on TV where a reporter wanted to find out how effective facial masks are in controlling covid-19 spread. He visited a researcher and they conducted a test. Somehow the scientist set up eight disks coated  in something that could  retain water droplets and, after bacteria formed, display them on the disks.

The reporter performed four times without a mask: talking, singing, coughing and sneezing and then repeated the experiment wearing a simple cloth mask. With the maskless test the drops ranged from a sprinkle with talking to a deluge with sneezing. To my amazement there was a zero transfer of  droplets through the mask even while sneezing.

I was astounded.  Initially scientists told us masks didn't help. Now it appears they are near perfectly effective in preventing transfer of the virus. What that says to me is that if everyone wore masks in all social situations the spread of the virus would be stopped cold. In four weeks we could take them off and go on about our business.

We need a federal mandate to require masks. We're not going to get that before January but some states have done this and all could.

The problem is enforcement. We're going about this backward. We don't have the resources to expend looking for people without masks and citing them. The onus should be placed on businesses and all other places open to the public. All should post signs saying no one may enter without a mask. Law enforcement officials should make random spot checks on establishments. If there's anyone inside not wearing a mask, shut the business down for a week for the first offence.

Some people will disregard the Walmart greeters and enter anyway. You know, those people who insist they have some spurious right to disregard  public health. ( You may not wish to vaccinate your children but you can't send them to school without doing so. Same principle) When this happens the business must call the authorities who will arrest that person.

The second bit of hopeful news is that many large corporations are boycotting Facebook and the list is growing. Facebook can control false information, hate speech and conspiracy theories; they just have no incentive. Facebook is a major reason we now have an inept president.

The next move is for the boycott organizers to provide a list of companies who advertise on Facebook and encourage consumers to boycott those companies. That would bring Zuckerberg to the table. No more “We know we have a problem and we’re working on it.”

Part II to follow...

[Kayla La'Sure] - TPC's Local Food Review: The Social Goat

The Social Goat Tavern
1115 Church St Covington, GA
678-712-6321
Welcome, Welcome, it's restaurant review time for a new local tavern in town!

The Social Goat, located on the Covington Square, had their grand opening this past Thursday. I had a seat saved for me fortunately because the place was packed!

Accompanied by my good friend, Hannah Thomas, we socialized, had a drink or two & I received my food to go.

I ordered the Sesame Tacos, Lemon Pepper Wings & the Social Goat Burger & yes - I shared! Everything was absolutely delicious & was cooked to perfection.

It was so good, in fact, that I invited my date there for lunch the very next day. We enjoyed the Goat Cheese Bruschetta as the appetizer (a MUST try!), then split the Shrimp Po' Boy & the Fish & Chips. Once again, it was just perfect!

Looks Like a Great Menu!

Splendid would be the word for The Social Goat & I am currently giving them an A! Nothing but good reviews so far & I'm hoping they keep it up.

I was also lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the new bar upstairs which will be open soon to the public & I'm super excited to socialize!

Keep up the hard work & great service, Social Goat!

Until next time...

A Letter to the Editor by Jasper Norville Loblolly

The Georgia Piedmont is a lot like the highlands of northeast Mississippi, which is where I live. Our countryside is just glorious, even if some people might sneer at us or want to burn us down. In my book, Tishomingo or Chief “T,” as we called him when I was a kid, was probably the greatest man in Chickasaw history. I suppose that a young Indian boy might say the same about his daddy or grandpa, although Big T is the namesake of the county.

What? Will the BML’s and the Commifas be coming for Chief T’s monument next?

For years and years, before I retired, the only black man (and family) in the neighborhood was my friend Clark - and Clark was not his real name - who used to live down at the corner. He was a farmer and my second-best fishing buddy. Nobody beats an old Hound Dog as a fishing buddy, even if he ate half the minnows! Lord, I miss them both on a Saturday afternoon.

I’ve been thinking about all of this modern justice stuff for a while now. I’ve had the time, what with the sniffle-bug-lockout and such. Plus I am old, stiff, and retired. The problems with the black cultural ascendancy can be traced back to the Seventies when Motown went corporate and had to move out to LA. It was the same set of songs, but with a different meaning since Detroit was gone. If Jim Crow had owned a moving truck, he couldn’t have done worse. Just ask Florence Ballard (RIP).

Time permitting, I’d say something about Mr. Brooks and his Brother closing their store. However, I see Mildred waving and I smell pie. Yum! In short, wear the mask if it makes you feel like a woman, just don’t rob my bank.

[MB McCart] - Amateur Philosophy Hour (I was a Stoic & Didn't Even Know It); Taxes, Taxes, Taxes: Update on the Confederate Memorial Situation

TPC was supposed to have had a 2-week vacation, but we know that that didn't happen.

Dammit, people, I thought I told you not to spill anything on the carpet (here's looking at you, Marcello).

Oh well, life happens & we move on, don't we?

|||||||

As far as I can tell the biggest problem at all levels is a lack of Stoicism.

Like the old saying, there are only two absolute truths on this ole rock of ours - death & taxes.

Can I get an Amen?

Seriously, though...

And another old saying - "Whoever Said Life Was Fair?"

Because, folks, nobody ever told me.

###

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes

Taxes are almost always going up at the local level this time of the year, no?

How 'bout them property taxes? The biggest racket out there, folks. We all know it's true.

Newton Co., even with the millage decrease, is Raising.Yo. MoFo. Taxes.

Porterdale municipal taxes? Going up, up, up; Oxford? LOL! Of course they are.

But...

Not the City of Covington. A true tax decrease. Even though I despise basically two-thirds  of the council, they did okay on this.

Confederate Memorial

Many of you have already & undoubtedly read some of the official recaps of this morning's court proceedings from those other papers in town, but for those interested, here's the REAL Story:

...

"ott's an asshole; ott's a sonovabitch; ott's a real-piece-of-work...

...tiffany humphries trying to make a legal argument while getting absolutely destroyed is quite something...

...ott always cuts everybody off...

(((he's the Judge, right?)))

...marcello got served, but said he didn't get served...?

...megan martin seemed to have the sole objective of pissing off Ott...

...

And more:

"what a sh!tshow!"

"let's see marcello's threatening emails..."

*****

It's going to be a couple of weeks before this all gets sorted out, apparently. We'll keep an eye on it.

Update on the Covington Confederate Memorial

By: MB McCart

Hello.

Based on solid sources & information received by this publication, the Newton Co. BOC was going to remove the confederate memorial from the Covington Square tonight at 10pm.

But as has been extensively reported the last couple of hours, an injunction was issued by Judge Ott of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit & a hearing has been scheduled for 9:30am Monday morning.

So, no removal this evening.

We'll be keeping an eye on it...

[MB McCart] - Thoughts on the Covington Square Confederate Memorial

Well, TPC was supposed to be on break for vacation, but you know how that goes...

So, the Newton Co. BOC will be taking up the Confederate Memorial issue this evening at 6pm at a special called meeting. Word on the street is that there are 3 votes on the board to vote to remove the memorial (Henderson, Mason & Shulz).

As was reported by several in the past few days, the county has also gotten a bid for removal at a cost of $40,000.

I was just informed today by a reliable, direct source that if voted on, the county would proceed to act "as soon as possible" to go ahead & remove the memorial.

Purportedly, according to some, there have been communications from certain pieces & groups that if the memorial isn't removed as quickly as possible, then there will be issues & possible problems from these people relating to the memorial, the Covington Square, the City of Covington & Newton Co. in general.

I just want to stop right there: threats of intimidation of the initiation of force by anyone should NEVER be criteria for any decision made by any governmental entity.

Never.

So with that out of the way, let's talk a few particulars.

First off, there is the state law. While a few cities & counties have disregarded that in these decisions, several have not, and have specifically referenced the state law. The law is the law, right? Honestly, as I've mentioned before recently, the silence & lack of action of the state with regards to the places who have removed these memorials seems to speak volumes. Certainly, this seems to be a bit of a political hot potato that some out there would probably just prefer to go away.

But it's not going to go away. It's never going to go away...

Here are some thoughts I shared back in 2017, the last time things really flared up with this situation:

As I've mentioned before, I'm basically a 6th generation Newtonian (my Great Grandfather married a Broughton girl, so we were in Morgan Co. for one of those generations). My Great-Great Grandfather, William Marion McCart Sr., served in the Confederacy as a volunteer in the GA E 53. He answered the call of his state, and, by all accounts, fought valiantly for the "lost cause." He did not, nor did any other member of my family as far as I've been able to discern, ever own a slave. They were poor folk. Dirt farmers, sharecroppers & carpenters.

In 1906 the Daughters of the Confederacy erected a statue in the center of the Covington Square to memorialize those sons of Newton Co. who answered the call of their state, the governing authority at the time, and specifically those who gave their lives. Unlike some memorials throughout the south, this monument was not placed during the 1950s or 60s as a show of defiance against integration or civil rights. That, in my opinion, is an extremely important distinction.

I've oftentimes thought about the discussions of that group of ladies over a century ago. Many of those women, the older ones, probably had a direct connection to that awful chapter of our country's history. One would presume that at least a few of them lost their Fathers during that conflict. Almost all of them heard about it from family members who witnessed it firsthand. That monument is a memorial to those who served in that conflict. That , I believe, should be a vital consideration...
...I'm of the opinion that the monument should stay. For one thing, it's a beautiful statue. It really is. And the words inscribed on it are also beautiful, and very apropos, in my opinion. On the north side, it talks about the need to furl the flag. How the time had come to move on. But there's also a mention of the "sacred cause" on the east side of the monument that some people have taken issue with. And...I get it. I do.

But for some, just the fact that it's a monument related to the Confederacy, regardless of intent or purpose, it simply needs to go. But I don't agree with that.
As the famous quote goes - "those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." This monument is a part of our history. Of course, some would say that history like this needs to be in a museum, or possibly in a cemetery.
I disagree.
Again, I feel as if it is a key part of our history. But more than that, I think it should stay because it can always be a reminder to all that the Civil War did indeed happen. That brother did fight against brother. A reminder that a critical mass of people at one time gave up on the principles that our country was founded on. In addition to remembering those Newton Citizens who gave their lives and those who fought in the War Between the States, this memorial can, and should, always be a remembrance that we have to keep talking. That we always need to always remain civil. And in this day and age, I think that needs to be in the forefront and should very much be in the public forum.

Moreover, I think this monument can also be a reminder that we are, as our Founding Fathers declared in the Constitution, always striving for that More Perfect Union, but that there have been bumps along the way. That we are, as America, who we are, and that we have a shared and intertwined history. That this beautiful and wondrous idea of Freedom and Liberty, though having come from imperfect origins, has always been striven for and expounded upon by many throughout the years, and that this light needs to always be shone and remembered. And that the South - our beloved homeplace  - was, in instances then & over the years since, sometimes on the wrong side of Justice, and history.

This is not a monument to a specific war hero, nor is it a celebration of the CSA itself. It is a memorial to American veterans, and a reminder of who we are and where we've been.

It should never be forgotten. It should always be remembered.

That is history.

The monument should stay.
###

So, again, that was from three years ago & I still pretty much feel that way.

I have recently, however, spoken with a few folks of color on the topic. They've all pretty much said that they feel it is inappropriate for the town square. I've also spoken to some white folks who feel the same, that it should be moved to the Confederate section of the Old Covington Cemetery.  I can feel where they're coming from, though. I really can. But the city has said that they don't want it.

I've spoken with many who do not want to see it moved & feel passionately that it should remain exactly where it is.

It's a tough situation. No easy answers.

As has been researched extensively, during the time period between 1890 - 1915 (coinciding with the 25th & 50th anniversaries of the end of the war). hundreds of these monuments & memorials were erected all over the southeast as well as hundreds more memorializing the Union all over the northeast & the rest of the country (there are also some Confederate memorials in the northeast as well).

In fact, there exists an almost identical statue found in Lewis Co., New York, as the one we have in Covington, GA but instead of Johnny Reb at the top, it's Billy Yank & the verbiage around the base is different.

What concerns me is this:

What's next? Are we going to start removing those Union memorials? And hey, why stop there? Let's go ahead & start taking down statues of Frederick Douglas & Abraham Lincoln while were at it (oh yeah, too late...).

As long as we're not talking about specific, workable ideas that can actually fix things (how's the mandatory body cam thing coming? Those citizen review boards up & running yet), right?

I think the BOC should definitely talk about it tonight, and hope there are citizens' comments on both sides of the topic. I think they should seriously & deliberately discuss this topic. And then maybe set up that Private/Public Commission. Half black folks, half white. And let's figure something out that works.

But the last thing the BOC needs to do is make an unnecessary knee-jerk reaction that cause more divisiveness in the home county.

[TPC] - Gone Fishin': It's Vacation Time

Gone Fishin'

Greetings, Fearless Readers, and we sure hope it's lovely out there.

Per tradition, it's vacation time.

And this time we're going two weeks!

Why?

Why Ask Why?

I'll see you scamps on July 20th. Consider this an open thread if you want, or don't - it is, at the moment, a free country.

Don't spill anything on the carpet...

Perrin Lovett: What We REALLY Need!

Things are a regular mess in our great, propositional nation of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! The USA has been invaded by a bunch of liberals and street criminals who pulled down all the statues of our AMERICAN HERO, Big Boy, cause I ain’t seen one at a Shoneys in a long time.

Here’s what we have to do to restore our REPUBLIC! We have to vote! Vote Republican, the party of Lincoln, of course.

We need a BUSINESSMAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE! You gotta run the government like a business. Product = strong military.

We need CONSERVATIVES on the so-called “supreme court.” With the magic of five, all bad things would go away.

We need to ELECT REPUBLICANS! Obviously. Otherwise, the Democrats win. Can you imagine how great it would be if the Senate was GOP right now?

We need REAL conservatives, not this crazy Marjorie Greene character. GREEN is for [L]ibertarians to smoke. Judaeo-Churchians stand with Ben Shapiru-backed candidates. True Conservatives™ support LEGAL immigrants and, I suppose, LEGAL lgbtp.

You ain’t “woke,” you are “sleepy.” All these Aunt-Ifa’s (SP?) and BLM’s in the peaceful protests need to read the CONSTITUTION. Then, they’ll know and they’ll vote for REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVES! #BLM! #bowtie #cuck!

This Saturday, JULY THE 4th, let’s celebrate our INDEPENDENCE DAY right, by wearing our masks, kneeling, saying, “so sorry,” and watching (on Fox News!) our cities burn!

Stand for nothing at all.

Next time, see you soon! :)
