[Bess Tuggle's This Week in Review, IMHO] - Rec Commission, Armed Marshals, Stan Edwards & Fleeta

I really don’t know what to think about our city and county government anymore. It seems like we’re in a cross between an old a Jerry Springer show, with a lil’ Judge Judy and a touch of Judge Lynn (Divorce Court) mixed together.

The Recreation Department management all got illegal bonuses, and now has to repay them. How in the world did it get that far? The raises were clearly in violation of the law, yet someone had to approve them, someone else cut the checks, and yet another signed the checks. Why and how did it get that far?

That’s a really good one to debate. I can’t imagine walking up to a stranger’s house unarmed, or they to ours. USPS, FedEx, UPS, Amazon.. don’t come up our driveway because of our dogs’ and I don’t open our doors to strangers without a gun in my hand even after looking through the peep-hole. One of the old Boy Scout lessons: It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I’m keeping my mouth and fingers shut about the volunteer fire department closures for the time being. I was really close to needing their aid a couple nights ago. I’m in District 1. Mr. Edwards, consider this your invitation to lunch. We’re in your district, and my husband and I both cook good.

Join us for lunch, Stan

My first hats off goes to the Newton County Animal Services Expansion. Our county really needed this.

My second is Ms. Fleeta Baggett for standing up yet again to the council. Stay the course!

Happy Groundhog Day!

PS: I think I finally spelled Ms. Fleeta’s name right.
