Bess Tuggle's Memoirs of Surviving Children: They're Always Listening

When my children were little I could tell who they’d been around by their vocabulary.  “Sh!t” meant they’d spent time with Gramma.  “God D*%@ it!” meant they’d been hanging out with Grandpa.  “AH-JO” indicated a ride with Grandma.  “AH-JO,” short for A$$-hole-jerk-off, was her road rage word when she tried not to cuss in front of the boys.  It didn’t take them long to learn what it meant.  Children are very astute.

Thing 3 developed, at about two years old, a noise that had me stumped.  It was a cross between a grunt and a groan.  “Grumh” is the closest I can come to it, and that’s not quite right the right sound.  Close enough to count.

The noise didn’t phase me at first.  With two older brothers and one younger brother, not a whole lot -did- phase me.  I chalked it up to yet another phase.

I didn’t worry until the phase continued longer than most.  This is the child that also nick-named himself “Me-non.”  “Me-non wants…”  “Me-non needs…”  I was getting concerned about his little mind.  Strange names and guttural sounds too?

Then I noticed he only did it when he bent over to pick something up.  A toy, a shoe, whatever.. was always accompanied by his lil’ grunt.  Now I was worried about internal/gastrologic problems.  This was a curve ball that hadn’t been thrown at me before.

As I was finally getting up the gumption to call our doctor (can’t mention his name, he’s since retired, but he was -wonderful-) I had a revelation.

I was running late cooking supper.  I was over the stove when his father came in from work.  He sat down in his recliner, “grunt,” then bent over to take off his work boots and grab his slippers, “groan.”

            MYSTERY SOLVED!!!

I didn’t bother to share this lil’ bit of information with his father until his father finally noticed the lil’ grunt.  I looked at him and told him to pick up his slippers.  He just looked at me but yup, he got it!

I’ll spare you details on what my boys’ taught my bird to say for another column.  That might be a short-story in itself.  Until then, “SSSSsshhhhhh…”  They’re always listening.  Always listening…

A jack of all trades, Ms. Tuggle has been a Covington resident since the late 70’s. She's been a K-Mart cashier, cabinet builder, vet tech, office manager for a beef cattle ranch and water well company (where she was able to hold benefits for D.A.R.E. and Scouts), a court reporter, business manager, assistant at a private investigation firm, legal assistant, convenience store clerk, landscaper and elementary school substitute teacher.  Her greatest pleasure is being a wife, mother and grandmother.  Her stories are all real, and all names will be withheld to protect the innocent, and also maybe the guilty, depending on the crime & the Statute of Limitations.

[Ellis Millsaps] - Uncle Joe's Band

God damn well I declare
 Have you seen the like?
Their walls are built of cannonballs.
Their motto is don't tread on me.

Come hear Uncle John's Band
 By the riverside.
We've got some things to talk about
 Here beside the rising tide.

Jerome J. Garcia/Robert C. Hunter
Uncle John’s Band,

It’s looking today, March 6th, 2020, as if Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee for president. Things could change. For example as of today we have three candidates from the two major parties left in the running, three men in their late seventies. What are the odds they'll all three still be alive in November? One recently had a heart attack, another is an a obese septuagenarian eating a diet of junk food. I think Uncle Joe has the inside track in the longevity lane.

When this started a few months ago the Democrats had the most diverse field of presidential candidates ever presented. Now we have two old geezers. How did this come about?

It came about because black candidates didn't get the support of African Americans and women didn't support the women. Neither group has the standing to do all this complaining I'm hearing today. No national candidate for the Democrats can succeed without majority support from African Americans, and women because of their longevity are the majority of voters and they're more likely than men to vote for Democrats.

                                 [3 weeks later)

On March 6th I decided to wait until the following Tuesday to see how Uncle Joe's band would do. Uncle Joe's band came through in fine form but the day after that last primary vote the whole world changed. Watching TV since then I would be willing to have a do-over and draft Andrew Cuomo as president but I’m fine with Uncle Joe.

Two things have been steady for us through past national disasters: music and baseball.  As I recall baseball only paused for a day or two after 9/11 and I recall the national concert soon thereafter with Tom Petty playing ‘I Won't Back Down.’ Radio provided free music during World War II and jazz bands played for our troops in Europe. Glen Miller died delivering it, We played major league baseball all the way through World War II with a one-armed outfielder and a pitcher with  an artificial leg.

In my next piece I'll explain why in my opinion we should be playing baseball and how we can do it. Today I'll stick with some music.

Of course we should be listening to Sting’s admonition, “Don't stand, don't stand, don't stand so close to me,” and maybe the Georgia Satellites’ “She said don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself.”

Maybe you’ve seen it on TV or the web but Neil Diamond changed some words of

[two months after I started, new laptop in hand]

Sweet Caroline as follows:

Hands washing hands,
Reaching out
Don’t touch me,
I won’t touch you

I catch myself singing a medley of ”I Will Survive” and Stayin’ Alive.” In my less optimistic moods I drift to the Drive-By Truckers:

So I'll meet  you at the bottom if  there really is one.
They always told me when you hit it you’ll know it
But I’ve been fallin’ so long it’s like gravity's gone
And I’m just floatin’

Gravity’s Gone, John Michael Cooley

But I think that in this dark hour on the brink of the Second Great Depression the best we can do is follow the advice of Jesse Colin Young:

Come on people now
Smile on your brother.
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now.

And maybe more of uncle John’s Band:

Well the first days are the hardest days,
Don’t you worry any more
‘Cause when life looks like easy street
There is danger at your door.
Think this through with me, let me know
Your mind
Woah-oh. what I want to know, is are you

kind?

Ellis "Da" Millsaps is a recovering Attorney but has worn many hats over the years: father, bus boy, stand-up comedian, novelist, wiffle ball player, rock'n'roll band manager, and at one time wrote a popular and funny column for The Covington News. A Fannin Co. mountain boy originally, Mr. Millsaps now stays at the mill village of Porterdale by way of 20 years in Mansfield. Usually funny and at times irreverent and subversive, he leans left in his political philosophy but can always be counted on for a pretty darn good write-up. The Chronicles are proud to have him involved...

Requiescat in Pace, Ron Kimble

By: MB McCart

The One & Only, Ron Kimble

The one & only Ron Kimble broke his earthly chains & ascended to Glory today.

Many have paid their respects, and I've enjoyed & appreciated reading each & everyone.

Jeff Hullinger w/ 11Alive had this to say:

A local music legend died today.
Ron Kimble is gone and so too is a part of Atlanta.
A musician, poet, story teller and friend.
If you have lived in this metro area the last 45 years, you’ve heard Ron somewhere, someplace, sometime...

For those of you who maybe don't know the wonderful backstory of Ron, here's a little history from TPC from December of 2018:

A good number of you know who Ron is, and a fair number of you probably know his fascinating story, but for those of you who don't - here ya' go:

Ron Kimble has been a practicing musician for pushing 50 years. In Atlanta in the early 70s Ron started to blow folks away with his amazing voice & killer guitar chops. In fact, he was involved with a very successful touring act for a time until he realized that "living in a bus & being told what to do" was not for him.

Later, at the legendary Hemingway's up on North Druid Hills Rd, Ron would start a multi-year residency - playing usually at least 3 or 4 nights a week - that brought people in from near & far to witness this "golden voice" and the kick-ass Country & Rock 'n' Roll that he'd belt out every single time!

At this time, getting an opening slot at Hemingway's is how up & coming folks would get a foothold in the ATL music scene. Several would open for Ron during this time including a fella named Jimmy Buffet & an obviously talented songwriter that tried his very best to sort of sing, Kris Kristofferson.

Later, Ron would move on to the also-legendary Texas Tea Room, a venue he helped to found, and that truly became the focal point for Country & Country Rock in Atlanta during the late 70s & early 80s. Folks like Leon Redbone & David Allen Coe would make it their local stop on their regional tours, as did a younger fella with a well known musical pedigree - Hank Williams Jr.

But the main entertainment for the Tea Room was The Ron Kimble Band, and just like he did at Hemingway's, Ron had folks coming from all over to check out those incredible sounds. In an Atlanta Journal article in January of 1980, Ron spoke about how fortunate & grateful he was to be making a good living by being able to play music.

More folks probably remember his later residency at the Country Rock Cafe in Lilburn, GA where he played four nights a week for many, many years. As always, he had a top-notch band including a superb bass player by the name of Larry McDonald, who still plays with Ron to this day.

At one time Ron tried to write down every song he either knew or played but gave up after the list hit 700 songs! While he's best known for belting out those classic Country tunes & Southern Rock, he also has an appreciation for the singer-songwriter stuff. Dylan's one of his all time faves, as is The Band & Neil Diamond.

The list of famous musicians, in addition to the ones I mentioned, who opened for Ron or played shows with him is a long one, as is members of his bands over the years that would go on to play for the likes of Greg Allman & others. There's definitely kind of this "six degrees of Ron Kimble" thing going on. Everybody knows him; everybody respects him. He is truly a Georgia Music Legend.

Folks, we lost a giant, and we'll all be poorer for it...

[Bess Tuggle] - IMHO: The Week in Review, May 3 - 9, 2020

Id like to start with wishing ALL Mother’s a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!! Regardless of how you got those kids… Biological, step, adopted… Enjoy them! I know this year is different from most with social distancing. If you’ve got little ones, they’re probably driving you crazy by now. If you’ve got grown ones, their little ones are driving -them- crazy, along with you. It’s time for all dads to STEP UP! Skip the “breakfast in bed” routine. Mushy cereal, eggs (I’m -not- going to describe some that I’ve been served), sodden toast and limp bacon are not a pleasant meal to wake up to. DADS!!! Take the kids and let Mommy sleep in and -enjoy- some peace and quiet! Leaving a bottle of wine and some roses would be a nice touch. Just saying.

The local news is scant, at best.

“Covington to make decision on Stars and Stipes Fest” coming up. To be announced. The deadline for the decision is May 18th. Will there be a 4th of July celebration? Will it be delayed, or cancelled? We don’t know yet. The City and the County are both as wishy-washy. The school system, too. I don’t feel like we have any local leadership anymore, or anything to count on.

One that broke my heart was the Newton Citizen almost -begging- for help. They’re asking for subscriptions (I have one) and/or donations. I -hope- it doesn’t go under. I rely on my Citizen almost as much as my TPC!

Warm wishes go out to -ALL- our soon-to-be high school graduates! Even if you don’t walk the walk, you EARNED it! I hope you celebrate, and I welcome you to the adult world, such as it is. If you’ve made it this far the stars are there for your grasping. Reach out, grab one, and hold on tight! The world is yours to grasp now. GRAB it!

Until next week…

[Bobby Nettles] - Debunking the Debunkers

*ed. note: well, the whole Mikovits situation has been quite the thing, hasn't it?

Obviously folks are passionate about this, especially those that want you to know how stupid & ridiculous you are to have even thought about watching that video...

However, it still doesn't change the fact that Fauci is directly involved w/ the lab in Wuhan, nor does it change that several of the things mentioned in "Plandemic" are factual.

It's all so interesting.

Regardless, here's a piece by guest columnist Bobby L. Nettles.

Depending on what team you're on, you'll either love it or hate it.

As always, thanks for reading.

- MB McCart, Editor

If you watch the refutations to the Mikovits video, you quickly realize the debunking strategy is pretty typical..
1) She's a craaaazy anti-vaxx loon.
2) Her research was debunked and pulled which discredits her and it.
________________
To the 1st point - she wasn't a crazy loon until she became a whistleblower. Before that she was a highly accredited, working scientist that went into her field to help people.
Now she's somehow a craven attention whore willing to spike her own research in a painfully debunk-able and sophomoric way that she had to know would eeeeeasily be detected - ruining her career and reputation.
Seems legit.
2) Her research wasn't pulled in the normal way. Apparently it was incrementally pulled - which is unusual.
The part being left out is that her research was in fact replicated after the fact.
It appears she's not anti-vaxx at all as many falsely label her.
She says as much.
What she IS, is anti- what was in many vaccines... So kind of like me.
For Those Who Doubt the Plandemic Movie
I researched some of the “facts” going around claiming to have “debunked” the movie, which are being regurgitated by many who prefer to remain asleep.
Remember - when they call you 'Crazy' you've become dangerous ... ðŸ˜Ž
1. Dr. Anthony Fauci has worked at the National Institute of Health (NIH) since 1968 and has been a Director with the organization since 1984, “both as a scientist and as the head of the NIAID at the NIH”. A simple Wikipedia search resolved that one.
2. The NIH was one of the institutions funding the original study published in 10/23/2009, which Dr. Mikovits participated in and makes reference to in the Plandemic movie. Dr. Fauci worked at and continues to work at the NIH, one of the primary financial contributors to the study as one of it’s most senior directors, so you can indeed say that Dr. Judy Mikovits was in fact working for Dr. Fauci. I have downloaded the complete original study and saved for you to access here (highlights on page 3 denote Dr. Judy Mikovits’s participation and her employing firm) (highlights on page 6 indicate the institutions which provided the funding for the study):
3. The study was challenged in 2010, when other researches could not replicate their findings and in September 2010, the original team, inclusive of Dr. Judy Mikovits issued an official response supporting their work.
4. After which the original study was partially and then subsequently fully retracted (a very rare move in science). The partial retraction document states that two of the co-authors, Robert Silverman and Das Gupta (whom the original study listed as working for the Department of Cancer Biology) re-analyzed the samples they used and discovered that they had been contaminated. Please refer back to the first link provided herein, for item #1 showing the original study, indicates on the document that it has since been retracted.
5. That she was arrested and a quote from the prosecuting district attorney, that said the charges were dropped because "there were issues with the witnesses".
6. In September 2012, Dr. Judy Mikovits and a team of other scientists conducted another study replicating the original one and published their findings, ultimately resolving the scientific communities dispute over the original work.
7. As previously shared in another post, Dr. Fauci does in fact hold a large number of patents related to HIV (as Dr. Judy Mikovits states in the video). He also holds numerous patents related to the Novel Coronavirus.

Other Interesting and Related Facts:
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has appointed Dr. Anthony Fauci to their Vaccination Action Plan.

Bill Gates personally owns a number vaccine related patents (amongst many other interesting and unrelated patents):

[Perrin Lovett] - Regret and a Few Other Items

Before the warranty ran out, they used to come to our house. I can still see those old, green Sears Roebuck and Company service trucks rolling up the long gravel driveway. After the warranty expired, when the little riding mower needed tuning - and it usually did - we had to take it to the store. In all circumstances, they kept the blades sharp. Surgically sharp.

One day the old man was circling through some tall grass in the backyard. As he passed by where my maybe four-year-old self stood just off the carport, something flew out of the deck chute. It landed and started hopping. I investigated. At first, I thought the large toad had been very lucky. It seemed okay. Then, I noticed its head. The top was missing, sheared off by those surgically-sharp blades. The cranial space where I supposed a frog’s brain should reside was empty, an open concave depression. Via hyper-lobotomization, Craftsman instantly converted this poor amphibian into a politician! It didn’t seem to mind, however, continuing to blink and hop. Content with the transformation, Toadie disappeared around the corner, out of sight, and out of memory until recalled by recent events.

Part three in a developing series about education in the new abnormal will come along in the near future. I hope. For now, it’s Regret and some other odds ‘n ends. We all have regrets. Here’s mine:

Picture © Perrin Lovett, 1915 for 2020. Time travel, that’s how…

In 1915, Regret became the first (of three) girly horses to win the Kentucky Derby. This accomplishment came without the benefit of and fifty-seven years in advance of Title IX. Some suggest she was the original gurl-power inspiration behind the WNBA. What’s your excuse?

Fear, you say? Well, you should be afraid. Some people throw around the word “fear” like it’s a bad thing, like it’s that other, really bad “F” word, you know, freed@m. Fear is good! We were given fear to help us be afraid. Fear is an American Value - life, libertine, and the pursuit of fear. Remember, we must socially distance ourselves because we’re all in this together. As Duuuuh-bya “The Decider” Bush just remarked: “If we don’t rise the virus, we’ll can’t be beat again. Heh, heh, heh.” No, I still don’t miss him yet.

I also don’t miss going to the grocery store without constantly being reminded that we all need to “stay safe” - cause that’s just what I think of when I go to the grocery store! I don’t miss people walking whichever damned way they liked down the aisles, buying as much bacon as they wanted. I certainly don’t miss the days when nobody cared about you because you hadn’t yet put on the mask. Where yo mask? Wear your mask!

Just kidding! I really, really, really care about your fear and saaaaaaaafety (imagine a sheep bleating that word, painfully). However, I must inform you that the mask probably isn’t enough.

Let’s flatten the curve. Get that disinfectant inside you somehow. The invisible enemy can’t win if we all pretend we’re astronauts. As such, do it right! Wear a gosh-darned NBC suit! That means a total hermetic seal and an independent air supply. Order your suit HERE. Don’t forget the SCBA kit! And, remember, all the protective gear in the world is worthless if you don’t decontaminate before you take it off. Get a decent shower booth or airlock for Fauci’s sake! Yeah, yeah, it’s a little pricey. Just do it. We have a war to win.

Speaking of war, I have to admit that the Imperial biowarfare attack on China and Iran has been a smashing success. What appears to be sloppy blowback is nothing more than spectacular confirmation that the people will put up with anything - while demanding more. And more is coming...

Speaking again of war, something is amiss in the Pacific Ocean. You’ve not heard about it from the mainstream media, so it must not be that important. Even if it is just the usual advanced decay of a dying empire, rest assured that if a swarm of sea-skimmers sends a carrier or two to the ocean floor, all deceased crewmen will be counted by the CDC as “virus” deaths.

The CDC’s numbers are about as funny as what comes out of the Treasury. It occurred to me this weekend that the Empire has racked up as much debt THIS YEAR as it and the former Republic did from about 1789 until the mid-to-late 1990s. By the end of this year, the equivalence might span from 1789 until around 2008. How does the $10 Trillion ANNUAL DEFICIT sound to you? Yeah! If only we had a Republican Senate and a conservative businessman in the White House! The good news is that we’re flattening the invisible economy. The Fed has printed nearly an entire year’s GDP *POOF!* of new fake money, in only about eight months. Hold our beer, China. We’re setting records! USA! Usa. u…

The Real Regret

Okay, and now we come to a literal pandemic, the one that’s 1,000 times deadlier than the Hoax of ‘20. We also find out if child murder gets added to The List of subjects that may not be criticized (the too real story). The great horror of our sad time is abortion. I’m not in any way suggesting that Eric Rudolph had the right idea about the clinics, I just wanted to type “Eric Rudolph” and “the right idea” twice in one sentence. But I do agree with Ann Barnhardt: we may effectively call the true American national date of death as January 22, 1973.

There’s been much buzz recently about homeschooling. I’m for it while the usual suspects are against it. For them, home school is somehow an authoritarian abomination but home abortion is the right (and now easy) thing to do. The modern magic of the “TelAbortion” has helped double the rate of infanticide in some states. At a time when decent people could expect another baby boom, Americans are adding to the most ghastly set of statistics ever assembled. In the past 47 years, the great and exceptional dead nation has slaughtered 62 Million of its own children, 300,000 of them killed in the first four months of this year. With figures like this, one need not even contemplate the unimaginable international toll.

What are we to do about all of this? Just blink and hop along? At least the brainless frog didn’t chase after my dad, demanding more.

Bess Tuggle's Memoirs of Surviving Children: The Wisdom of a Good Judge

I had my kiddo piece for this week all planned out in my mind. I really did – until I read about the early demise of our most recent Juvenile Court judge. It brought back memories…

Juvenile Court judges have one of the toughest, most heart-breaking jobs on the planet. They pour their heart and soul into their job, they’re dealing with young, moldable minds, and that’s a responsibility I can’t even fathom. But sometimes it comes with jocularity too.

One of my Things, I won’t say which one, got in trouble in middle school. I’m talking about -6th- grader!

He, and 3 other friends, found a pill on the gym floor. A pill.

This pill got passed around between the 4 of them. None of them knew what it was. None of them took it, and I had no idea -any- of this was going on.

After passing said pill around between them for a couple weeks (I can only imagine the pocket lint that came with it), none of them had a clue what it was. -But- it was a prescription medication, out of the bottle of the prescribed individual.

One of the boys said it was a hormone pill. His mom took them, and if you gave it to a girl, she’ll like you. They collectively tried to decide what girl they wanted to slip that pill into her school milk. They never could decide -which- girl, or who was going to slip it into her milk so she’d like -him-.

Back and forth it went between them, until the last “holder” told my Thing he’d sell it to him for $1.00. My thing bought it.

Here we go to the principal’s office! The resource officer at the time wanted to charge it up to youthful stupidity. No one got hurt, so let it go. The principal at the time wanted to make an example of those dumb a$$ little boys and pressed charges. Now we enter the world of juvenile court.

All 4 boys received 3 juvenile felonies. Possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance out of the original bottle, and.. I can’t remember the 3rd – it had something to do with talking about slipping it into a girl’s milk so she’d like them. My Thing got a 4th felony – purchasing a controlled substance. -That’s- where his lunch money went.

The look on the judge’s face during their sentencing was priceless! I have -NO- idea how he kept it together!!! The kids were too scared to notice the smile on the judge’s face when he put his head down and covered his eyes with his hand, but he -had- to sentence something. These were -NOT- bad kids. Naive, yes. Bad, no.

Each child was sentenced separately, but it all came down to the same thing. Juvi “Boot Camp.” Boot Camp was just what you’d expect, but these were little, spry children compared to the lazy, “bad a$$” teenagers going through the same camp. All was held at the old Cousins, and the lil’ kids enjoyed the break from school. Run up the hill, roll back down, run up the hill, roll back down… It was PLAY time!!!

Juvenile records are sealed once the child reaches legal adulthood; 18 years old. Bet there are a lot of adults that would kill for the same thing. These lil’ kids were given a gentle lesson, and all turned out to be good men (don’t tell them I said so!).

The wisdom of a good judge can change a lil’ life forever. I thank all our Juvenile Judges for their service.
